SCREENING OF THE FILM ARCHITECT OF BRUTAL POETICS AT THE UNIVERSITY OF BRASÍLIA
On 12 December 2025, we presented the film at the Faculty of Architecture and Urbanism (Universidade de Brasília), located in the iconic brutalist building designed by Oscar Niemeyer in 1960. The raw concrete, monumental proportions, and visual power of the architecture resonate strongly with the works of Hans Broos.
The screening took place under the patronage of Prof. André Gonçalves da Costa – architect, educator, and film festival curator – and was followed by a lively discussion between students and our featured guests, the architects.
The event was also attended by the Ambassador of the Slovak Republic to Brazil, Katarína Tomková, and the Deputy Head of Mission, Viliam Rosenberg.
BRAZILIAN PREMIERE OF THE FILM ARCHITECT OF BRUTAL POETICS
On 11 December, we presented the documentary about architect Hans Broos, a native of Veľká Lomnica, at the cinema of the Embassy of the Slovak Republic in Brasília. The film’s theme sparked great interest among the guests, including ambassadors from several countries.
The premiere was attended by our featured participants – architects Bernardo Brazil Bielschowski and João Seraglio from Florianópolis, architectural historian Angelina Whittmann from Blumenau, and co-producer Pedro Rosa from Rio de Janeiro.
The Embassy of the Slovak Republic in Brasília is housed in a remarkable brutalist building – a truly fitting venue for the premiere of a film about an “architect of harsh poetics.”
We extend our thanks to Ambassador Katarína Tomková and the entire embassy team, as well as the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic and the Slovak Audiovisual Fund, for supporting the presentation of the film.
In 2024, we will commemorate the 160th anniversary of the birth of Jozef Murgaš. Together with the Society for Multimedia Arts (SMU) and the Jozef Murgaš and Jozef Gregor Tajovský Club, we are planning several projects to highlight the legacy of this exceptional figure in our history – inventor, painter, and reverend Jozef Murgaš. We are preparing a feature film and a documentary about his life and work. We are working on an exhibition entitled Jozef Murgaš – The Forgotten Genius (Hviezdoslavovo námestie, Bratislava). We are very pleased that the park in front of the iconic pyramid, which houses RTVS, will bear his name...
On Wednesday, November 9, 2022, we screened Architect of Rough Poetics at the State Scientific Library in Banská Bystrica. The screening was attended by a large audience, including architects, documentary film fans, and architecture enthusiasts. After the screening, in the cozy Poetika café (Lazovná 16), director and artist Ladislav Kaboš presented his series of silkscreen prints ARCHETYPY. The exhibition will run until December 9, 2022.
On Friday, April 22, 2022, at 7:00 p.m., we will screen the film for the first time in the Czech Republic Architect of Rough Poetics. The gala premiere of the film will take place at CAMP - Center for Architecture and Urban Planning in the Emauzy Monastery complex. The film will be introduced by its creators. The main actor, Mr. Imre Boráros, an actor from the Komárno Theater, who plays the main character Hans Broos in the film, has also confirmed his attendance.
Kapela / The Band was screened at the Festival du film documentaire & du livre in Albertville, France. Following its success with audiences, another screening of the film will take place in Chambery, Nuits de la Roulotte. We will announce the exact date on the film's website.
We are preparing the distribution of the feature-length documentary film Architect of Rough Poetics by director Ladislav Kaboš and producer Darina Smržová (EDIT Studio). The pre-premiere took place at the CINEMATIK International Film Festival in Piešťany on September 15, 2021. The official premiere is scheduled for October 5, 2021, at 7:30 p.m. at the Lumière cinema in Bratislava.
At the 20th edition of the Le Grand Bivouac - Festival du film documentaire & du livre in Albertville, France (October 18-24), we will screen Kapela. The first screening is on October 20 at 6:00 p.m. and the second on October 23 at 1:30 p.m.

Kapela / The Band will be screened at the FIPADOC festival in Biarritz on June 14, 2021, where it is included in the competition section. Despite the extremely complicated situation that arose in France during the pandemic, the festival management has fulfilled its intention to screen films on the big screen at the earliest possible date (June 12-17, 2021).
